UGGH!!

--------------------October 31st, 2002

Happy Halloween!! ** I've just got back from a little trip to the hot and cloudless Middle East where I spent four days in Dubai. It's so interesting, but you have to make a real effort to get away from the totally generic hotel resorts in order to experience Arabia in the slightest! Of course, as it's a muslim country, alcohol is banned except for in the hotels, so everyone stays at the beach and eats hotdogs and drinks beer, and you could just as well be in California, or Miami or the Gold Coast, or anywhere really for that matter. Which is great if you're only looking to get away from dreary London, and take the kids somewhere sunny. But we did manage to go out to the desert in a 4-wheel drive vehicle and walk in the dunes, which was awesome - amazing, just sand and occasional scrub stretching from horizon to horizon with the Hajar mountains just shimmering and floating above the edge of the earth in the distance! I explored the alleyways that make up the "souks", the various markets around Dubai, and was most taken by the Spice Souk, with the vendors selling barrel upon open barrel of all sorts of raw spices, which make your nostrils tingle with the exotic scents of curry and cinnamon and whatever the hell all the other stuff is! I found some "Khanjar", those arabian knives with the crescent blade, in a little silverware store in an alley, and bargained a couple into my suitcase along with a traditional arab outfit - robe, headress thingy and whatnot! (Well, how much Arabic can you learn in 4 days when you need a tan!!) In the evenings my companions, photographer Ross (who took some pics, which I'll post when he prints them) and Rex King, Led Zeppelin tour manager for years, regaled us with tales of excess and success over bottles of French Bordeaux, at the hotels - because all the Western restaurants are there!

We're having a Halloween party over here, but tomorrow night instead, as I'm certain the English folk wouldn't "do anything too silly" like go out on a Thursday night when there's work tomorrow!!

Peace,

Kev

FINI! Bring on the dancing girls!!!

--------------------October 24th, 2002

Greetings fellow fine art appreciators - I'm keeping an eye out for beauty, so you, dear reader, don't become culturally disadvantaged! Therefore these masterpieces - sometime Da Vinci, sometime Hefner, but always entirely palpable I think! Hmmm!

Led Zep is a wrap! I think I'm off to Dubai tonight for the weekend with Ross Halfin, but have to make sure I've finished everything completely, and there's a lot to finish. By the way, it's John Entwhistle's memorial service today, which Jimmy Page is attending - unlike Pete Townshend, and if you want to see one of the saddest indictments of the self-centred rock musician, read this sorry account of a fading star!

The leedle prince is subjecting me to the trials and tribulations of the tormented youth, as his adolesence and teen shenanigans begin in earnest in response to an uncontrollable influx of rampant hormones - the likes of which never subsided in me, as you can see by my art appreciation! So, I should be more understanding, 'tho I have this desire to leave (or trade in) all earthly posessions for a sailboat (plus motor) and set course for an uncharted island..... impossible I know, but it's the contradictions that fascinate me! I'll settle for a swim: splish-splash!

Peace,

Kev

Well, I woke with a vicious case of the flu today, so feel like crap warmed over. Runny eyes, blocked nose, itchy ears and a headache, and it ALWAYS seems to happen! Whenever I finish a project, I collapse, and it's the LAST day in the studio today, mixing "Bring It On Home" in surround sound, and then I'm done - after 5+ months in the studio, and hundreds of hours of listening through different music, and it is bittersweet because it's the soundtrack of my life, my all-time favorite band, and my inspiration for being in this business, but I am very excited for it to be out there, and let everyone who didn't make it to a show hear the magic! And I've just spotted the time - 10.35am, and I am running very late - gotta boogie! Over 'n out!

Peace,

Kev

Hello! Can I help you? It's the early morning Caveman Helpline! * The correct Healing Sixes dates are below, in the entry of the 9th October! Oops I did it again - I incorrectly posted last years tour, but I've rectified that now! GO AND SEE THEM! Thanks, M! * It's so interesting - there is so much crap on the web. It is quite well known now, that there's new Zep music forthcoming, and it's a huge privelege to be working with Jimmy Page on the Zeppelin stuff, and more than that I haven't said. I do not know the project title, or anything else that you cannot get from Sam's site, which you can get to by clicking the pix above, it is as up-to-date as anyone's, and even Jimmy says he does a great job!! All I can say is .... get your better half to get you a DVD player and a real 5.1 system set up for Xmas, and if you're anything of a fan - you're in for a massive treat. I've always been a huge fan, but after this - I'm convinced of the geniuses involved, and believe there was never a band with such a chemistry in rock! Miles and Coltrane in Jazz maybe, Barenboim and Du Pre in classical, but in rock it must be the all four of them! * Now then, moving right along ..... I am working on a nice little page, which I'll post next year. Thanks for your time. Anybody interested in a job as a P.A.? Doesn't pay great, but it's fun as hell! E-mail me

Peace,

Kev

Greetings! I wake in the dark to get the prince to school. London's like that, and into the tunnel that is British winter we steam. All aboard! Well things have been hectic around here. ! * On a scary note, my stepson, Paul, was in Bali in the bar when the bomb went off. He says he was 50 feet from it, but in the two minutes on a bad phone line at 4am, I could discern precious little from him, so as he'll be in London tomorrow, I'll debrief him and make sure he's OK! Very scary stuff! * Damn near Halloween already, and as is the custom, Casa Cave will once again be the setting for much parading and revelry as I'll attempt to get the Anglos into the spirit of dressing up. Men here seem to think putting on mum's Sunday outfit will suffice, but I'm working on changing those perceptions! * Aforementioned prince and I will be setting sail around the islands of Thailand this Christmas. We've a yacht chartered and will attempt to avoid the masses as we see the New Year in under the stars. Looks fantastic - have a sticky beak (Aussie slang for peek!) at this! Click. Ross Halfin, my friend and general blight on humanity, may join us for a few days before he heads off to see the year in with Ozzy in L.A. Ross has his own website now, and some of his talents and conquests are displayed. Visit his site of self indulgence at www.rosshalfin.co. uk, or just click on his nose! This is a very rare sight indeed, Ross smiling!! He must have just told somebody "how pathetic" he was! That's it for now - Silvertide news soon.

Peace,

Kev

And I want no e-mails from unemployed drummers, thank you very much!
